Is a Brave and the Bold cartoon in the works?

According to this brief item at The World’s Finest fan site, Warner Bros. Animation may be producing a TV series inspired by DC Comics’ classic team-up title The Brave and the Bold:

While nothing is confirmed at this time, the The Brave And The Bold animated series will apparently center around Batman teaming up with a different DC superhero in each episode. The series will also apparently have no ties to any previous animated incarnations. The Brave And The Bold is rumored to premiere next fall though, once again, nothing is confirmed at this time.

The Superman Homepage fan site adds that it’s “discovered that this new animated series is ‘currently in production’.”

Call me crazy (“Hi, Crazy!”), but isn’t this what we’ve been getting on Saturday mornings over t he last year or so anyway? Last week it was Hawkman, and so on…

This could potentially have more freedom than what “The Batman” has been doing. They’ll probably have a lot less stories set in Gotham.

Having Batman in every episode might be the plan for the first season, but not having him in the title means they could start having episodes without him after the other characters take off. Remember how the Question worked out so perfectly in JLU? They didn’t know that was going to happen ahead of time, the writing and the voice actor just worked out really well. If something like that happened in Brave and Bold, that minor character could jump to the forefront without the need to have Batman tagging along every time.

While I’m a huge Bat-fan, what Jason said makes sense. Personally, I’d like a show that’s written more for the grown-ups (as JL/JLU generally was, a few missteps aside) and not the “kiddie” fare of The Batman (also currently known as “Brave & Bold-lite”).

I realize The Batman has adult fans too, but it just isn’t of the quality that B:TAS and the aforementioned JL/JLU were.

Oh great, here comes the same old argument again. :)
