Wizard talks with writer Matt Fraction about Invincible Iron Man, and gets down to brass tacks:
If you were friends with Tony, would you go out with him to pick up girls?
It would be one of those things where I’d want ringside seats to see what his life is like. I would absolutely want to hang out and watch him work for a night. Just so I could say that I saw the master operate. And not just him picking up women — just to see someone that rich and that smooth. The thing about James Bond that I loved — the action was great, the gadgets were great, the spy stuff was great — but what I always loved, and what drew me to the character, and I’m discovering Tony Stark is very much the same way, is that James Bond always knew what to do. He always knew what to say, what drink to order. He could identify wine on taste. He was a master of all situations, and I want to explore that part of Tony Stark, too. That arrogant cockiness that comes from being the smartest guy in the room.
Invincible Iron Man, by Fraction and artist Salvador Larroca, debuts in May.
