Toy Fair kicked off in New York this weekend, where Mattel unveiled a new DC Comics line called Infinite Heroes. Action Figure Insider reports on the wide range of character the new line will include:
So far the line-up looks to include: Batman, Killer Croc, Batwoman, Reverse Flash, Shazam!, Wildcat, Black Hand, Hush, The Question, Power Girl, Jay Garrick Flash, Weather Wizard, Hawkman, Black Adam, Thanagerian Cops, Commissioner Gordon, GCPD Cops, Supergirl, Wonder Girl, Bizarro, Black Canary, Hal Jordan and Green Arrow, Mirror Master, and Wally West Flash. The three packs look to be themed.
Wizard has a bunch of photos from Mattel’s booth.
One line that is continuing in 2008 but can’t be seen at the Mattel booth is the Justice League Unlimited line; because it’s going to be exclusive to Target, they elected not to show it off at Toy Fair, but they did reveal some new figures in last week’s ToyFare magazine:

Here’s something that befuddles me. We currently have a Justice League Unlimited comic book and toy line for a (great) series that ended in May 2006? I understand the thinking these days is development for straight to DVD, but how much of an audience can there be for a toy line when the show is no longer producing new episodes? I know I show my ignorance of the toy market and its performance trends with this question.

I can just imagine the Batwoman action now…

I seem to remember buying Super Powers figures even when the show was just in reruns, which I believe JLU must be. Kids grow up owning the DVDs and watch them over and over. I imagine there’s a market as far as kids are concerned, but I don’t know for sure.
I think the figures look pretty great. Too bad the straight while male ones will only be able to do one action, an action completely based on their sexuality! Jeez…

Warning: someone at Wizard doesn’t understand the concept of resizing photos and the files load in at a percentage. Trying to hold open over a dozen 2MB+ photos on the page caused my browser to lag out pretty hard.

The Infinite Heroes line has no TV show to back it up. At this point the JLU figures are marked as “DC Superheroes” on the packages, so they’re pretty much just DC figures at this point, for kids (and adults) who like DC’s superheroes.

Sweet. New Gods JLU figures.

Amen to that.

WTF are they thinking with that Supergirl figure?! Nipples?! Really, Mattel?
