IDW Publishing chief Chris Ryall shares a couple of pages from Angel: After the Fall 6-8:
ANGEL: AFTER THE FALL is doing something special with issues 6-8. We’re taking a break from the ongoing story–and oh, how this might upset some of you after you see the end of issue 5–to do the now three-part “First Night.” This is an array of short stories, all handled by different artists and each one finally revealing what these characters the night of the big, apocalyptic fight in the alley at the conclusion of Angel Season 5.
He posted an additional page here.

Wow… you know your series is in trouble when current John Byrne guest art looks about a thousand times better than that of your regular penciller!

There are reasons why Byrne still gets work after all this time.

Do the X’s on Lindsey’s eyes mean he’s dead??

Cool idea and I’m glad to see Byrne is getting to work on this as he’s expressed his admiration for the show in the past.

Possibly the Xs mean he is KO and/or drugged.
And John Byrne is a great artist, guys. Come on! You may not like the guy as a person, but he is a master of comic book art.
Best,
Hunter (Pedro Bouça)

Of course the Xs mean he’s dead. Are you reading the comic without having seen the last season of the show?

This artist may be more suitable for The Spirit.

The teaser images from these stand-alone stories have all looked pretty good; I remember seeing a page with Wesley that really rocked.
I hate to bag on anyone’s art, but the title could use a boost in that department. I’m not sure if the problem is the coloring or the inks, or both, but the visuals are really muddy. My wife and I read it pretty much in spite of the artwork. I don’t expect photo-realism -Buffy works just fine without spot-accurate likenesses- but when a big reveal at the end of the first issue flies over most people’s heads because they can’t make out who the character is, that’s not awesome.

Wait, so Lindsey is dead?

Erech, are you pulling my leg? Because you should really know the answer to that question if you’ve seen the last episode of the show. Granted it was on almost 4 years ago but still.
REALLY OLD SPOILER!!
Lorne killed Lindsey for Angel after Lindsey dispatched the member of The Circle of the Black Thorn they were sent after.

Wait, whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Angel got cancelled?!?!
?!
February 13th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Apparently Erech has lost his long term memory in some type of terrible accident.

Well, that’s 3 issues I won’t be buying.
