Per The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Eccleston has signed on to play Destro in the upcoming live-action G.I. Joe movie. Eccleston previously appeared in 28 Days Later and played the role of Claude, the “invisible man,” on Heroes.

A few weeks back IESB.com reported that theater actor David Murray was set to play Destro in the film. The Hollywood Reporter cited “visa issues” as the reason for Murray’s withdrawal from the film.

Eccleston joins Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Marlon Wayans, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Dennis Quaid and Channing Tatum in the film. Quaid recently revealed that he had signed on for three G.I Joe films.
