Jonsing to buy some of those fancy-schmancy European comics but don’t know a lick of French beyond “oui”? Relax, the kind folks at Comix Influx are here to help. A sort of semi-scantilation site for BD fans, the folks at Influx have taken it upon themselves to translate all those highly-praised graphic novels into English (though the translations are posted directly on the site, and not downloaded). Current projects include Negres Jaunes by Yvan Alagbe, L’Autoroute du Soleil by Baru, Mutterkuchen by Anke Feuchtenberger and the various comic excerpts from Bart Beaty’s book, Unpopular Culture. They’re looking for help translating, so if you’re a polyglot with free time, join the fun.
Meanwhile, can I put in a request for La Revolte d’Hop-Frog?

Hi there Chris,
thanks very much for the shout-out for Comix Influx - glad you like the sound of it.
Actually, it’s not only polyglots that can join the fun! Basically, anyone who is interested in European comics is welcome (or, actually, foreign-language comics - whatever counts as foreign to you - although I expect the initial focus to be on European comics, with a smattering of South American comics for good measure).
You can join the mailing list by sending an email with “subscribe” as the subject to discussion-request@comixinflux.com. Whether you want to comment on existing translations, suggest new books to translate, or just discuss the site, we’d love to hear from you.
We’ll look into La Revolte d’Hop-Frog, although you should feel free to get it started on Comix Influx yourself, Chris!
Yours,
Stephen Betts.
