Now, Ex Machina ends in a year or so, too?
It’ll probably be closer to a year and a half. It’s cool because I think Ex Machina is a little bit under the radar, which is always when I do my best work, when I feel like no one’s paying attention. I feel very free, more free I guess than any time else to take the book in weird new directions. Also almost since I’ve been working in comics, 11 years or so now, I’ve always been working on multiple books a month. Now, even though I’m researching stuff, because of the strike this is my only deadline.The ending is just so wildly different from Y that I really look forward to reaching it, but I really am enjoying the process.
As you might expect from a retrospective, the interview contains spoilers for the final few issues of Y – something that shocks and outrages some of the commenters.
