I’m so looking forward to this. New Frontier is one of my favorite Star Trek lines.

That *really* looks like two flashlights.

I’m not a huge Trek fan but I really enjoyed the novels and am actually looking forward to this book. The art in those preview pages isn’t groundbreaking but the likeness to Jellico (I forget the actors name) is good and if the words match (and with PAD writing I have no reason to doubt) it should be a fun book. When does this come out again? Need to add it to my pull list.

“That *really* looks like two flashlights.”
Its the new Maglite Class Starship. HA!

Ronny Cox is the guy played Capt. Jellico.
As a Trek fan, one who hasn’t enjoyed ANYTHING Trek since Deep Space Nine ended its wonderful, though sadly underappreciated, run I suppose I should at least flip through this and see if I like it. PAD’s writing is certainly a step in the right direction.
As a DS9 fan though, it bothers the hell out of me that IDW’s willing to do some New Frontier comics, but they have yet to show DS9 some love. How about it, IDW?
Then there’s the matter of IDW’s Trek releases thus far. Put simply: Unimpressed. I bought the TNG miniseries, and found the plots thin and dull. The Klingon mini-series was better, but still not a lot weight to the story. Tried TOS: Year Four, but when I whipped through that first book in less than five minutes I realized there wasn’t any reason to keep buying it. Better stories, and more dialogue, please!
The artwork varied from book to book. Some good, some terrible. But really, it’s Star Trek. I’m not as hung up on the art as I am the plotting, the dialogue, and the characters. Invest a little more in the storytelling please!

I enjoyed the bookline but not to impressed with IDW’s work. I think Dark Horse has the better editorial staff.
