Comics Commentary has posted an article from the March 27, 1948 issue of Collier’s, by one Judith Crist on a certain Dr. Fredric Wertham’s crusade against violent comic books. Note the staged photos of kids abusing each other. Choke! Good lord!

“Recent scholarship has given us a more balanced view of Dr. Wertham, suggesting that his research wasn’t as shoddy as most fans believe, and that there were strong reasons for regulating the horror and crime comics cranked out by opportunistic publishers.”
Hogwash. It’s not the governments place to regulate any creative endeavor like comics, no matter how poor the product. Be a parent for God’s sake.
