IGN.com reports that Heroes writer-producer Aron Coleite will take over Ultimate X-Men after Robert Kirkman leaves with May’s Issue 93.
Coleite, who also was a writer for the NBC drama Crossing Jordan, will pen at least four issues, leading into Jeph Loeb’s Ultimatum crossover, which runs through Ultimate X-Men and Ultimate Fantastic Four.
“The official word is four issues,” Coleite tells IGN. “One kick-ass-balls-to-the-wall-arc. Then Ultimatum. But … in this world — you never know. Kirkman was supposed to do four issues or something like that and he wound up doing 28.”
No artist has been announced for the arc.

So Coleite is on for four issues, then Loeb does his three issues for Ultimatum, probably propped up by a big name artist and gets the added sales boost as they near the century mark, and the series ends at #100. That seems to be the plan.

As much as i dislike Kirkman’s Marvel work, and was not looking forward to his run on Ultimate X-Men … I gotta say I really enjoyed it, and it was a title I looked forward to every month.
That said. Bring on the new guy! … Whoever he is…

A television writer coming on for a four issue arc? Does that mean its safe to assume the arc will finish sometime in late 2009?
