The East Coast may be fine for Spider-Man, Batman and Superman, but in the upcoming movie Iron Man is a West Coast kind of guy.
Director Jon Favreau tells The Los Angeles Times that with Ol’ Shellhead, “L.A. is getting a superhero that’s perfect for the city.”
“He has to live in Los Angeles and there’s a real sense of the place in his story and in his character,” says Favreau, who grew up reading the comics and has devoted three years to bringing the armor-plated hero to the screen. “A lot of things that are unique to Southern California are in this film. I couldn’t imagine it being anywhere else.”
Iron Man opens on May 2.

THIS IS HORRENDOUS. TONY STARK WAS ALWAYS A NEW YORK GUY. STARK TOWER IS IN NEW YORK, AVENGERS MANSION WAS IN NEW YORK. I HOPE THIS ENTIRE FLICK IS NOT FOCUSED ON THE WEST COAST. THAT WOULD DEFINATELY DESTROY THIS MOVIE. ONCE AGAIN, HORRENDOUS IDEA.

You know, I always saw him as being on the West Coast too. Then again, it’s probably because that’s where he was located in the ’90s Iron Man cartoon. And I think that idea was taken from a period in the comics in which he was running with Force Works or the West Coast Avengers in California. So, it does work.

I guess I see Stark as not really having a home. He seems to go all over the world all the time.
So this certainly isn’t HORRENDOUS AND WILL DESTROY THE MOVIE, it’s just a minor change.
Now, if the closing credits showed that Tony Stark’s middle name was Floyd, that would be the WORST THING EVER.
