Lying low for the holidays, the Publisher’s Weekly Comic week folks forgo the usual run of feature stories in favor of their now second annual critics’ poll. Would you be surprised to discover that Exit Wounds and the fourth volume of Scott Pilgrim garnered high marks?
Also, Kai-Ming Cha offers a list of her favorite manga of the year, which includes some expected titles (Tekkonkinkreet) and some surprises. Why, for example, did Jeffrey Brown’s Incredible Change-Bots make the list?
Technically, Brown’s Change-bots is not manga or manga influenced. It is, however, American mecha ala Transformers as interpreted by Jon Stewart. If Kodansha editors are looking for an aggressive reworking of manga from a Western perspective, this is it.
Uh-huh.

this is something that’s been bothering me with Newsarama for a while now (and it applies to this post):
what is the point of having images pop up in a different window if it doesn’t yield a bigger version?!

In this instance, the pop-up is larger.

i stand corrected.
however, it DOES happen all the time on Newsarama. It’s frustratingly annoying.
