Wow, JK! Thank you! It really means so much to hear you say such nice things about The Homeless Channel. If anyone is interested in following up on JK's recommendation, head over to www.thehomelesschannel.com for a video preview and a chance to read the entire first chapter of the graphic novel!

As for me, 2007 highlights included Gipi's Notes on a War Story, Rutu Modan's Exit Wounds, Matt Kindt's Superspy, Brian Wood's DMZ, and Jason Aaron and Cameron Stewart's The Other Side.

It was a great year for comics!

Funny thing is that the Seven Pirates was almost unanimouly considered in France the weakest book on the "Seven" series...

Which shows how many great french comics are unknown on the US, I guess.

Anyway, you can also order it on www.fnac.com and www.decitre.com or pretty much any french online bookstore. But I would recommend french-speaking buyers to get the first volume on the series, Seven Psychos, with art by Sean Philips.

Best,
Hunter (Pedro Bouça)

Heh. Just realized: Seven Soldiers was almost entirely done in 2006, wasn't it? D'oh! Let me replace that with Immortal Iron Fist, then.

I can't believe that no one mentioned the most interesting and entertaining book of the year, I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets! (Fantagraphics). The collection introduced a new generation to largely forgotten artist Fletcher Hanks' strange work. Hanks, who obviously understood little about anatomy, began publishing often crude but always dynamic stories in a variety of obscure publications such as Fantastic, Jungle, Fight, and Big Three Comics over a brief three year span (1939-1941). The outlandish stories usually featured intergalactic protectors who meted out justice and vengeance upon the guilty like some cosmically-powered Shadows. The fascinating and somewhat freakish I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets! was easily the best comic item of the year.

My best for this year included Darwyn Cooke's Spirit, Shazam!: Monster Society Of Evil, Blue Beetle, Richard Moore's Boneyard (which needs to come out faster than quarterly...sigh...), Adam Warren's Empowered, Naoki Urasawa's Monster, Yotsuba, and of course, Fables and Y: The Last Man. Immortal Iron Fist and the new volume of SCott Pilgrim were fun too. I think we only got one new volume of Sgt. Frog this year, or else that would make the list too.

Jeff Smith's Shazam!: Monster Society of Evil is definitely up there for me. I also really enjoyed The Complete Terry and the Pirates, 1934-1935, The Re-Gifters by Mike Carey (DC's Minx line), Darwyn Cooke's The Spirit, and Yotsuba&! - two new volumes came out this year after a long hiatus.
