Here’s one of the best pieces of news I’ve had in a while. Bryan Talbot’s fantastic, all-over the place graphic novel Alice in Sunderland is not only selling well, it’s a huge hit. Or at least it is in Sunderland:
The book has sold out its second print run in the UK, clocking up more than 10,000 sales.
Steve Robinson foresaw the problem and has made sure Waterstone’s in Sunderland has plenty of copies of whathe predicts will be this year’s biggest Christmas hit.
Even Bryan has been taken back by the success of his hymn to his adopted city.He said: “The reaction has all been positive.
“Many people have told me that they will be buying multiple copies for Christmas presents.
Talbot goes on to say that he’s been made an official ambassador for Sunderland by the City Council, which is pretty cool.
