Fangoria is reporting on their site that a fire destroyed their back issue supply last week. Luckily, no one was hurt:
Hell came to FANGORIA last Wednesday when a massive fire that swept through a warehouse in Oregon, IL destroyed our supply of back issues used to fulfill mail and on-line orders. Also consumed by the flames were copies of STARLOG, STAR TREK and our dozens of past movie tie-in magazines. As a result, we are unfortunately no longer able to process back-issue orders for any of our past titles—so collectors, hold onto the ones you’ve got! The photo above was provided by one of our FANGORIA bulletin board members, who is also one of 20 employees who escaped the building unharmed.
Saukvalley.com has a report on the fire as well.

Oh no!
Fangoria was a huge part of my teenage years. I read every issue cover to cover and coated my high school lockers with pictures from it.
And no. No boy ever asked me out in high school. How did you guess?

interesting that fangora was shutting down divisions and its comic book division.

that is horrible news. but it does bring into question the shutting down of it’s different divisions. i’ve seen a few store fronts get “broken in to” when the business was about to close.

Two words — insurance scam.

The theory Chris said is looking more and more likely. After seeing this article this morning - http://dorkgasm.com/node/405
I started digging myself, and hence why I’m here.

Yeah, seriously. I was thinking insurance scam before I even read the article.

Who are they trying to fool here?

Something smells like fish, and weeks old dirty underwear.

Hm. Fangoria’s comic division is named after a character from “The Godfather”, Moe Greene. Surely we aren’t meant to believe that they would conduct their business the way Greene would?

I think a lot of people are jumping to conclusions. Here’s another report on the fire, from the local media who spoke to the fire chief:

I’ve added a link to it in the post.

I spoke to Jeanine Walsh three months ago when I was asking about my unpaid invoice… She said the investors were considering closing Fango and Starlog divisions… and now this happens… yeah, coincidence surely…
