Jughead: Smells like teen spirit, yo

December 10th, 2007
Author Kevin Melrose

Jughead's Double Digest #139

After testing new, if temporary and somewhat controversial, designs for other members of the Riverdale gang, Archie Comics is debuting a “Dynamic New Look” for Jughead. In timeless Riverdale, “Dynamic New Look” apparently means “Lollapalooza ‘97 attendee.”

This DNL rolls out in Jughead’s Double Digest #139-142, with art by Joe Staton. It’s “a story that will shock you,” the official release assures. You can see the covers for the other three issues at the link.

I am a Joe Staton fan and have fond memories of lots of his work. That having been said, the figure on the right in the foreground is a woman from the eye line up, and a man from the nose to the jaw.
