The last king of Scotland?

November 19th, 2007
Author Kevin Melrose

In a short article about a contest for schoolchildren sponsored by Mark Millar, Scotland on Sunday dubs the writer “Scotland’s king of comics.”

For one commenter — and so far the only commenter — this will not stand!

Mark Millar

I rather think you are doing a great disservice to Grant Morrison, Mr Horne! He has been one of the greatest moving forces of USA type comic for the last decade.

Even Marvel scribes look to Grant as the Great White Hope of the comics industry (Mark Waid aside)!

Scotland’s king of comics, my hairy big ass. That crown goes to Grant Morrison any day of the week!

That aside, the contest is kind of fun: Millar is teaming with Primary Life magazine to offer local schoolchildren a chance to appear as a character in “his next major adventure.”

There’s probably a bad joke to be made about Civil War and Stamford, Conn., but I’ll resist.
