I’m not sold on the Love & Rockets-y trade dress (I hope that’s the right term). But it’s really nice that they’ve kept the books at the original 6″x9″ size, rather than shrinking them, ala Sin City.
It’s testament to the strength of these comics that they’ve lasted long enough to need a sprucing-up. And 12 issues for $20 is bloody good value for money. Get it bought, if you haven’t already read it.

Okay. I screwed up. They HAVE shrunk them to the Sin City size. Not sure I like that.
But don’t let that petty complaint put you off.

These new collections will be similar to the recent WHITEOUT Definitive Editions. We are reducing them to 6×9 (a format we actually prefer) and are also upgrading the paper stock to make them a really nice package.
Plus, you’ll be able to get 12 issues worth of content, three TPBs, for $19.95!

I actually really like the reduced size, it fits better in your hands, especially with a big thick book. And the artwork can often look tighter in that format, especially black and white.
I am very excited about these definitive editions. This was, at one time, my favorite book, but it fell off my radar once Rucka started doing more DC work and publication slowed to a crawl (I don’t begrudge him, everyone’s gotta eat, and though it should be, Queen & Country will never be a top ten book).
I always wanted the stories in collected format but never got around to buying the trades. Now I’m glad I didn’t.
Mr. Jarrell, any word on the makeup of the other books? There haven’t been quite enough issues to fill up four volumes this size, have there? I guess with the Declassified minis there have.

sluggo,
There were 41 issues of Q&C total (32 in the main series + 9 Declassified.) We also had a script book that we are hoping to integrate into the 3rd volume.
Between four volumes, that still averages to more than 10 issues per book.

I’ve got something like the first five trades, I need to figure out at what point I need to start buying these.

Obviously, math was never my strong point. Thanks for the info. I’d love to see the scriptbook in there somewhere. I never picked that up. I know the individual trades had introductions by Warren Ellis and other such luminaries. Any chance of those making it into the definitive editions, as well?
So is “Queen and Country” now pretty much done as a comic series? I’m enjoying Rucka’s prose novels, but it would be a shame if the comic series went away completely. Maybe a series of original graphic novels? That would be fantastic.
