Greenwood to play Capt. Pike in Star Trek
Bruce Greenwood (I, Robot, John from Cincinnati) has been cast as Christopher Pike, the first captain on the U.S.S. Enterprise, in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek.
The character appeared in the original, unaired pilot for the Gene Roddenberry series. He later appeared in the two-part episode, The Menagerie, which used footage from the pilot.

Lions Gate updates its website for Will Eisner’s The Spirit with a video message from writer-director Frank Miller from the set of the movie.
Will Eisner’s The Spirit is scheduled for release on Jan. 16, 2009.
Disney and Newell talking Prince of Persia
Variety reports that director Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) has been offered Disney’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, the live-action adaptation of the hit video game.
The script is by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (The Day After Tomorrow) and the video game’s creator, Jordan Mechner. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing.
Mechner is also working with First Second on a Prince of Persia graphic novel.
