Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to Matz and Luc Jacamon’s noirish graphic novel The Killer, to be developed as a project for director David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en).
Variety reports that the adaptation will be produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment and Alexandra Milchan (The Night Watchman).
Originally published in 1988 in France by Casterman, The Killer centers on a nameless assassin who must grapple with his conscience, and a cop on his trail. Archaia Studios Press began publishing the story as a 10-issue series last year.

Is Fincher still doing Torso?

I hope Fincher keeps the French nationality of the main character instead of Americanizing him. All in all, this is good news. The Killer is a great book!

I too hopes “IF” this does indeed get completed..the French nationality of the character is kept…too many films change the originality and get Americanized.

This is a really cool series. Fincher should do a good job with it; it’s right up his alley.

The lead role should be played by Keanu Reeves with a fake British accent and a blonde wig

It’s an American director and an American production company. If they want to make him American, so be it. As long as they keep the spirit of the story.

They won’t need to Americanize this other, much bigger European comic:
