More voices (and a release date?) for the New Frontier DVD

October 29th, 2007

From "Justice League: The New Frontier" DVD

Citing “VERY reliable word … from multiple retailers,” TVShowsOnDVD.com is reporting that the direct-to-DVD Justice League:  The New Frontier will hit stores on February 26, 2008.  The movie will be released in Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, and standard DVD formats, with the standard DVD retailing for $19.99.

The report also lists more of the adaptation’s voice cast, including Brooke Shields as Carol Ferris, Miguel Ferrer as J’Onn J’Onzz, Phil Morris as King Faraday, and Kyra Sedgwick as Lois Lane.  They join David Boreanaz as Green Lantern, Neil Patrick Harris as the Flash, Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman, Kyle MacLachlan as Superman, and Jeremy Sisto as Batman.

One very minor thing that still kind of jumps out at me today:  the credit list refers to Superman as “Superman/Clark Kent,” but I don’t remember Clark appearing either in the original miniseries or the expanded collected edition.  Everyone else gets some secret-identity action (Bruce Wayne’s only appearance is at the Ted Grant prizefight, I think), but not Clark — right?  It may be nothing, but it may be a sign that the adaptation focuses more on the superheroes than, say, the Challengers of the Unknown.

clark kent is in new frontier. batman mails the evidence he gathered from j’onn j’onnz to clark kent. there’s a scene where it has clark kent looking over the information from the theodore geisel type book and the other info related to the centre.

I think they had said at San Diego that the DVD would focus primarily on the Justice League and not on the more obscure characters like the Losers, etc.

  3. Tom Bondurant Says:

Freddy: I remember that scene in the book now — thanks!

  4. Evan Waters Says:

How did I miss the Kyle MacLachlan as Superman news? That is AWESOME.

  5. Mike O'Brien Says:

I love Kyle MacLachlan like no other man has ever loved him but as long as Warner insists on not making a Generations straight to video DVD, I will have to boycott this DVD and all of the other Warners comic adapted movies.

  6. Joe Lawler Says:

Are you talking about the Batman & Superman: Generations series? If so, showing them that their animated super hero movies are unprofitable makes it unlikely Generations would ever be made.

  7. Mike O'Brien Says:

    Good point, Joe.

  8. Fanboy Menace Says:

Awesome voice talent line-up. I’m looking forward to this!
