Superman Returns screenwriters won’t return

Superman Returns screenwriters Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris won’t pen the movie’s sequel, Variety reports.

That leaves Warner Bros. searching for new pitches. Rumors circulate that the studio may take a cue from Marvel and pretend the previous film never happened. The introduction of Superman’s son, and the $200 million domestic box office haul, are cited as the reasons.

However, according to the trade paper, WB denies that rumor, and says the next movie will be a sequel, not a start-over.

Bryan Singer is still set to direct, with Kevin Spacey as Luthor, and Brandon Routh likely returning as the Man of Steel.

Because, you know, we just haven’t had enough Lex Luthor in all the Superman movies to date. (sigh)

Hopefully Spacey will have time to do it between his ass-kissing sessions with Hugo Chavez.

I was under the impression that Superman Returns pretended the other movies didnt happen, so now there is another movie where the previous movie never happend? Like DC continuity wasnt odd enough in the comics…

  3. Ed Says:

No, Superman Returns didn’t pretend the other movies didn’t happen ENOUGH.
