Although rumors have been circulating for a while now, Paramount finally has confirmed Chris Pine (Smokin’ Aces) will star as Capt. Kirk and Karl Urban (The Lord of the Rings) will play Dr. McCoy in J.J. Abrams’ reboot of the Star Trek franchise.

Those two roles round out the primary cast, which includes Eric Bana as the villain Nero, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Zachary Quinto as Spock, John Cho as Sulu, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, and Anton Yelchin as Chekov. Leonard Nimoy, who originally played Spock, also is part of the film.

The movie, which takes place during the early days of the Enterprise crew, is expected to film from November to March.
