Even more Justice League details

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Maxwell Lord is going to be the bad guy in Justice League. Since EW hasn’t posted this article on their website, I managed to find a neat summary on CBM.

The plot is starting to sound more-and-more like The OMAC Project and Sacrifice… mostly because it is heavily based off it. Maxwell Lord, OMACs, and Brother Eye – Brother Eye was originally reported as “Red Eye” but that appears to be a goof in what was leaked. Aquaman is also confirmed in the bios that EW gave:

Superman – A.k.a. Clark Kent, news reporter. The morally upstanding Man of Steel battles Batman and has more to worry about than kryptonite.

Wonder Woman – A.k.a. Diana of Amazonian princess. Revered by the other supers for her beauty and ass-kicking abilities.

The Martian Manhunter – A.k.a. J’onn J’onzz, detective. His power to read minds comes in handy as the villain engages in some nifty mind control.

Green Lantern – A.k.a. John Stewart, architect. Designed the Hall of Justice. His emerald power ring shoots beams of energy.

Batman – A.k.a. Bruce Wayne. The most human in the bunch is mistrustful of others, which leads to quite a few problems for the clan.

Flash – A.k.a. Barry Allen, cop. The most enthusiastic superhero, Flash is happy just to be included, but his ravenous appetite leads to trouble.

Aquaman – A.k.a. Arthur, the Atlantean King. Not a fan of humans, Aquaman is more interested in helping his fellow heroes than lending a hand to land dwellers.

The choice of Barry Allen is interesting, considering that Wally West is what most people are used to and he is the current Flash.  But whatever.  I can’t wait for Superman to go nuts.

awesome… half of the respect wonder woman gets is because of her beauty…

    sounds like this’ll be great.

  2. Matt D Says:

They need to take the WW/Superman fight almost exactly from the comics, especially the moment where she braces her broken arm.

  3. The Dan Coyle Ultimatum Says:

Green Lantern designed the Hall? Does that mean they all pay him rent?

  4. KentL Says:

“Green Lantern designed the Hall? Does that mean they all pay him rent?”

It means the toilets continually dissolve when you pee in them.

  5. Jorge Gomes Says:

Actually “revered for her beauty” or The Flash is “the most enthusiastic superhero” make this sound like a poor, superficial adaptation, like that dreadful TV pilot.
“Oh, don’t you worry – we really understand the characters!!

  6. Jesse Says:

    No Green Arrow? Lame.

  7. Jason "CodeGuy" Bryant Says:

The Flash description worries me a bit. If his appetite is a focus of the character, that makes it sound kinda like the failed JLA pilot.

But I don’t want to be too hard on it already. A description that’s only two sentences long can hardly do a good job of telling us what’s being done with the characters. Especially since these descriptions probably weren’t written by anyone with any creative control of the movie.

  8. justme Says:

I like that the descriptions portray disturbed Bruce Wayne as the most human of the bunch. Wonder what John Stewart thinks of that…guy with a ring isn’t more human than a rich guy with abandonment issues.

  9. Nick Evans Says:

To be fair, GL is a guy with a *magic* ring who gets to fly around in space. I can see Batman as being more human than that.

  10. Sigmund Quark Says:

The thing about Batman being the “most human” really bugs me. I mean, because he has no super-powers he is automatically the “human” one? I would say that Clark Kent or Barry Allen are much more human than the relentless, sometimes obsessive and cold Batman. C’mon, he’s the guy whose main tactic is scaring the crap out of criminals.”He has no powers therefore he is the human one”. Lazy.

  11. Nirmal Says:

This sounds TERRIBLE. Plot, concept, characters, everything…

  12. DavidH Says:

“Maxwell Lord is going to be the bad guy…”
And yet more crapping on the ol’ JLI. Sigh.

  13. Henry Benton Jr Says:

Ugh..I worry more and more about this film.
I guess, in a way, I always thought a great template for a JLA movie was “JLA: Heaven’s Ladder” since it always seemed like a huge story that the JLA needs and serves as a nice intro to the DCU.

  14. GK Says:

My goddess this sounds horrible. I loathe cheesy bios and this is exactly what they give us. Blah.

  15. Lex Says:

We’re finally getting a Justice League movie, and it’s being based off that dumb OMAC story? What the hell are they thinking?

  16. Lis Says:

Barry Allen’s “ravenous appetite leads to trouble?” That’s it. I refuse to see this film unless it’s marketed as a schloky comedy and nothing more. Let Flash constantly eat in the background while Batman is trying to intimidate villains. Bring back the yellow impurity so John can get into hilarious “oh noes it is YELLOW” situations. You know what? Go whole hog and make different costumes so every time the camera angle changes they’re wearing full sleeves, then half sleeves, then no sleeves just like Superfriends.

  17. s.pellegrino Says:

why would anyone be on max lord’s side? he may have been written as a good guy sometimes but his very first inception was as a duplicitous, coniving weirdo with motives only he understood.

    JLI sucked anyway.
