Variety reports that Scottish television writer Steven Moffat will pen DreamWorks’ Tintin, a movie trilogy based on Herge’s famous boy adventurer. Announced in May, the three films are a collaboration between Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson.
Moffat created the sitcom Coupling, and wrote the drama Jekyll. He’s also written four episodes of Doctor Who, including one of my favorites, The Girl in the Fireplace.
The Tintin trilogy will be produced in full digital 3-D using performance capture technology.

“including one of my favorites, The Girl in the Fireplace”
Hah! My favorite Doctor Who episodes are “The Empty Child”, “The Doctor Dances” and “Blink” – the other three episodes by Moffat.

Also: created Press Gang, a seminal piece of comedy drama. Just happened to be a kids show…

Yeah, I’ve seen “Blink.” I enjoyed the episode, but it’s not one of my favorites.

Now go and buy the DVD boxset of Press Gang.

Hm… I wasn’t a fan of the idea of Tintin movies (and why oh why does is have to be a trilogy?) but Steven Moffat is just very very good.

It is a crime that they are making this 3D! This was never supposed to be 3D! I fucking hate $$$-wood!

You make it sound like the original author expressly stated that he didn’t want it to be in 3D and they’re doing it against his wishes.

Why argue. 3d is much better. Its odd that he would complain. Its going to be good in 3D
