The Scotsman reports that Carl Barks’ Scrooge McDuck as been added to Glasgow City Council’s list of Famous Glaswegians, which includes such notables as John Barrowman, Belle and Sebastian and Groundskeeper Willie.
“Over the years, Glaswegians have made their mark on the political, scientific, educational, religious, commercial and cultural map at home and abroad,” a spokeswoman told the newspaper. “We have carried out some research and were delighted to discover that Scrooge McDuck hails from Glasgow.”
The richest duck in the world, Scrooge first appeared in Four Color Comics #178 (July 1947), in a story called Christmas On Bear Mountain.
