Justice League script details leaked

Justice League of America has been getting a lot of attention lately, and I’m hoping it will be better than the campy ’90s movie that was made. So far, all we really have are confirmations that the movie will be made, who the director will be, and who might play whom in the movie.

Well, UGO has received a leaked script:

Ever since the JLA movie was announced people have been wondering what the storyline for the film will be about. What unites these diverse heroes to join together? Are there any villains from the Superman or Batman movies that will make their appearances? Finally we have some answers to give you today thanks to a deep cover source that’s read the script for Justice League of America and provided us with answers to some of our questions.

That is better than anything else and I don’t know why this hasn’t received a lot of attention yet. You better believe there are spoilers after the jump.

According to the website, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Martian Manhunter make up the League. John Stewart is going to be GL, and The Flash is the youngest member — and has a crush on Wonder Woman!

It looks like the story is heavily based off the “Tower of Babel” and “Brother Eye” arcs. Batman has developed a technology called “Redeye” that spies on League members and has collected information on everyone’s weaknesses. You’ll never guess what happens next: A villain gains control of said technology and uses it against the League.

There is a major plot twist that UGO calls an Empire:

It should also be said at this point that there is at least one major twist in the story that I’m not going to blow because I deem it an Empire spoiler. For those out there that don’t get my reference, imagine it’s 1979, the internet exists and you’re reading rumors about the new Star Wars sequel called The Empire Strikes Back. There’s some new guy called Lando, there’s a big battle on a snow planet, Luke meets up with another Jedi and Darth Vader says something to Luke near the end of the picture. Sure, those are all spoilers but if I came out and said what Vader told Luke? That’s an “Empire”. What’s in the box that Brad Pitt holds in the final ten minutes of Seven is an Empire. Kevin Spacey’s change of footwork at the end of The Usual Suspects is another Empire. Got it? Good.

IESB is also reporting about the ending:

The IESB can confirm that these details are 100% dead on and we can elaborate just a bit more. The last spoiler that we posted above will involve an incredible fight between three of the founding members of the Justice League. The scene has been described as one of the greatest superhero fights ever put on film. Can you guess which three Superheroes?

So, Superman goes bad and Batman defeats him with Wonder Woman and the internet spends forever debating if Batman could have done it on his own.

Of course, since this movie is scheduled for a 2010 release, this could all be crap. There is plenty of time for a rewrite and I’m sure a lot will be changed around. The size of the League has changed from other rumors, but it still sounds like something I’d enjoy watching.

Sounds a lot like Sacrifice to me.

Which is one of the best, smartest fights I’ve ever seen in a comic.

  2. Mike D. Says:

All I care about is John and J’onn. If both of them are in there, then I’m solid.

Oh, the story sounds cool too.

  3. Eric Says:

Sounds like a red herring. The final script will probably have no resemblance to it.

  4. Steve J. Says:

as long as it’s not a wacky superhero romp, I’m down with it

  5. Evan Waters Says:

Yes, because superheroes are SERIOUS BUSINESS.

  6. Jason "CodeGuy" Bryant Says:

Whether or not they are “SERIOUS BUSINESS”, very few people want to see a JLA movie that would be described as “wacky.”

Just watch the 90s TV pilot some time. That nailed “wacky”.

  7. Dean Trippe Says:

In my opinion, there is almost no chance this movie could be good. I think a Superman/Batman movie would’ve had a better chance. Wish they’d gone that way.

  8. Fanboy Menace Says:

Sounds like a really bad plot point to have the heroes fighting each other in the first movie. That’s more of a second or third movie type of story direction.

The first movie should be straight forward: giant threat appears and the League comes together against it and let your character interplay do the rest.

  9. Evan Waters Says:

I think the problem with the pilot was not that it was humorous but that it (apparently) sucked.

A well-done JLI-style movie would be rather fun- it’d just have to be well-done. And that’s always the tricky bit.

I just don’t know about this. This doesn’t sound like the kind of story you want to have for the first major JLofA movie. Ah well, it’s still early.

  11. Kevin Huxford Says:

I shudder at someone calling it the best super-hero fight ever in a film when it hasn’t friggin’ filmed yet.

  12. BatmanDeadEndDVD Says:

If you can’t wait for the JLA movie, check out this DVD with film trailers for “World’s Finest” featuring Superman and Batman; and “Grayson” about the ‘death’ of Batman. It will tide your appetite over until (if?) the release of the JLA movie!

    Hi,

It sounds like a really bad plot point to have the heroes fighting each other in the first movie. That’s more of a second or third movie type of story direction.
It didn’t look impressive to me.

    Hey,
i haven’t heard that before, but it sounds very interesting…but why wasn’t there any attention?…
