Why oh why is the movie not coming out NOW??! Death Note is sooooooooooo good! They really seem to have done a good job casting Light and L – but will the movies be in Japanese, or in English? I wanna know…. (I’ll buy them anyways, tho). An also… what DAY, MONTH, HOUR, MINUTE, SECOND is the U.S. release of the DVD??! I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally wanna watch iiiiit… I wanna watch it nooooooooooooow!

I have mixed feelings about this release. I’m happy that the movies will see a U.S. distribution and not be relegated to “Battle Royale” status because of the subject matter.

However, my enthusiasm is tempered with the fact that the DVD’s will not be available until “summer of 2008″.

To have to wait 9-12 months for a movie series that is already available in DVD form in other countries strikes me as an unreasonable delay. I think they are missing an opportunity to get at least a bare bones version available for the holidays to complement the release of the anime volumes.

Oh well, at least people in the U.S. will get an opportunity to view an interesting and thought provoking movie.
