Wow…friggin’ beautiful! Can’t wait for this!!!

Looks awesome, except for Clair’s face, which seems…off.

“Looks awesome, except for Clair’s face, which seems…off.”
It doesn’t look like Claire at all. I wonder if they had some issue getting the rights to using her likeness. It’s especially weird considering how spot-on everyone else is in the picture. That looks more like Heather Graham, really.

I agree; that doesn’t look like Hayden Panties.
September 5th, 2007 at 10:14 am
This was originally promotional material, I can’t imagine it has anything to do with rights. I think it looks like her enough, its just that she is looking ‘extra-tough’ in that picture so its a little odd.
What I think is interesting is the picture of Greg Grunberg (Parkman) looks like he belongs on the cover of MAD. Look at his face.

Ando made the cover. Awesome.
September 5th, 2007 at 11:04 am
Cool. Though I’ve read some of the pdfs, the exta features in the book might make it worthwhile to buy.
September 5th, 2007 at 11:40 am
Huh…now that it’s been mentioned…it doesn’t really look like “Claire”…it looks more like a blonde Keira Knightly.
September 5th, 2007 at 1:33 pm
Actually, it looks more like an older Claire. Like what Ross did with Wonder Woman in KINGDOM COME - very strong but mature facial features. I wonder why.
Even still, it’s a great cover and an even better show! I can’t wait for season two!
I wonder how well Jim Lee will capture the characters’ likenesses on his cover.
September 5th, 2007 at 2:51 pm
Darn it. Now I’ll definitely buy the book.
September 5th, 2007 at 3:01 pm
Heh… “panties”…
September 5th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
OK, I’ve got a very bold theory, so brace yourselves: that image of Haydn Panettiere looks alittle bit off, and not quite like her because… Alex Ross screwed it?
Yeah, really, no rights issues, no artistic intentions on his parts. He just did… wrong.
Mind boggling, I know. I can feel the universe foundations shaking already.
September 5th, 2007 at 8:00 pm
Awesome! the man is the best!
September 5th, 2007 at 8:02 pm
Hey Roy. Where’s your cover you crumb?
September 5th, 2007 at 8:07 pm
Clair is not the only one that looks a little off; Peter doesn’t quite look like Peter, either.
I suspect this piece was rushed; I am seeing a lot of artistic shortcuts in the arrangement and maybe his heart just wasn’t in it.
September 5th, 2007 at 8:54 pm
Ross was the wrong choice for something that requires actor likenesses. He has never been able to paint attractive women. They end up looking manly and always older than I’m sure intended. Peter looks like a goon.
September 5th, 2007 at 9:02 pm
MEN, they all look like men!!
September 5th, 2007 at 9:09 pm
Is it wrong to want a Tim Sale cover instead?
September 5th, 2007 at 9:51 pm
“I suspect this piece was rushed; I am seeing a lot of artistic shortcuts in the arrangement and maybe his heart just wasn’t in it. ”
Well, the characters were created after the Silver Age, and you know how Ross feels about that
September 6th, 2007 at 7:01 am
“Peter looks like a goon.” He’s not too bad in the painting though - heyo! Also: Heroes - starring Kate Winslet as the cheerleader?
September 7th, 2007 at 12:26 pm
Naw. He didn’t screw up on purpose. It’s just really hard to get that many people to look good in a portrait painting. Just getting ONE good likeness is hard enough, getting 13? He did a good job overall, but I agree, the Claire likeness is not a great one. Unfortunate since she is the forefront figure, which I consider the most important one in the composition. Still, he’s the man, a great portrait artist; this is just one of those things.

Sweet, can’y wait to see the proper Lee cover too. Will be touch decision.
September 24th, 2007 at 7:15 pm
The guy’s an AWESOME artist…what I wouldn’t give to have half that talent. Hmmmm….maybe I could cut his head open and see how it works!!!

Anyone knows which episodes of web comics are included in this volume?
