Lucha Libre #1

Variety reports that Luchadores 5, an adaptation of the Humanoids comic Lucha Libre, will begin filming early next year.

It will be directed by Michael Olmos (Splinter) as part of his 12-picture deal with the European publisher.

Lucha Libre, by Belgian writer Jerry Frissen and French artists Bill and Gobi, debuts this week in the United States as an anthology series from Image Comics.

The story centers on the Luchadores 5, five aging men who dress as Mexican wrestlers to fight crime in their East Los Angeles neighborhood.

There’s already a line of vinyl figures based on the characters.
