Somewhere in the back of my mind — probably where I file away announcements of movies that’ll likely never happen — I recall reading about plans for a live-action adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball Z.
Well, apparently that one is happening. The Montreal Gazette reported over the weekend that DBZ is one of three big-budget movies set to be shot in the city over the next year. According to the article, the 20th Century Fox project has a budget of more than $100 million. Production is expected to wrap up by July 2008.
Giapet, whose memory is better than mine, writes that the studio acquired the rights to the over-the-top fight manga in 2002, but halted production two years later.
Toriyama’s Dragon Ball series was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1984 to 1995, and has been adapted as animated TV series and movies.

As long as it’s not like DOA, or Spiderman 3 with the scrawny actors and cheap-looking outfits. Hopefully not “live action”. Not much super-buff actors out there. Maybe cgi over real actors like what they’re doing with The Incredible Hulk and Beowulf, except anime style.

i think that a live action movie would be great. i’m a BIG fan of manga and DBZ, but even if “the movie” turns out bad or ok. thats fine with me because an attempt was made. even so the show was great, and i’m looking forward to a movie.

If they’re making this movie who would direct this movie and how would they do their hair style. I think the wachowski brothers should do the fight scenes, that would be sick

Honestly, I will never be disappointed of the Dragon ball z Live action movie because The end of GT is really sad to me. It reminds me when I was a kid who love reading and buying dragon ball toys, movies, and comic book. I’m a Fan of DBZ forever.

yea i cant wait either.. i hope its better than youtube things the directors have a big thing on their shoulders, mess this up and god knows what will happen.
again i wont be that disappointed as long as they don’t rush it and make sure everything is perfect. a good advertisement to entice the viewers would be cool but one that shows allot but not to much if ya know what i mean…
is it me or was spiderman 3 awesome? i mean you can tell it was rushed but i liked it… however it was strange they never mentioned venom once just showed him doing stuff =s

I think they should find ppl that really do look like them (characters) unless they want it to make it a comedy movie….^^ anyways what I really wish is that they should produce it as CCG like in FF7:advent children….but anyways good luck on it…

yeah, I think it’s about time they come out with a movie, and I hope they don’t mess things up. Hopefully they get some good choreographer on the fight scenes. Man, they need to perfect it just right and they will be alright. GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!

I hate to break it to those who are anticipating this, but Fox has just admitted that this movie will suck, and above all fans in Japan and all over Asia are boycotting it
