Agatha Christie — younger, hipper and in full color

August 22nd, 2007
Author Kevin Melrose

From "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd"

The BBC News website has a selection of art from HarperCollins’ new line of graphic novels based on Agatha Christie novels. According to this report, the Agatha Christie Comic Strip imprint is designed to appeal to new and younger readers.

That effort includes an appearance by the author as a character in an episode of Doctor Who sometime next year.

Although the article says the first of the comics will roll out next month, during the annual Agatha Christie Week, Amazon lists them as debuting this week.

Actually, I saw them in the Birmingham, UK, Borders last Saturday. Strange idea, but it may work.

Agatha Christie graphic novel adaptations. Decades in the making. Will adaptations of C. S. Forrester’s HORATIO HORNBLOWER be too far behind?

Let’s have some Flann O’Brien adaptations! I’d read a THIRD POLICEMAN graphic novel, maybe by Chris Ware or even Frank Quitely.
