Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy, a longtime Batman fan, has a cameo role in The Dark Knight.
“I don’t wear tights,” Leahy tells the Burlington Free Press. “I think I’m referred to as the ‘distinguished gentleman.’”
The senator appeared briefly as himself in 1997’s Batman & Robin, and lent his voice to an episode of Batman: The Animated Series.
According to the article, all of Leahy’s earnings from the movies and TV series go to the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier.
“I’m hoping that when the movie comes out, maybe I can do something more for the library,” he tells the newspaper. “They get all the residuals.”
In The Dark Knight, Leahy is in a scene involving Batman (Christian Bale), The Joker (Heath Ledger) and Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine).
