Here’s an ugly little piece of comics history, discovered by Ethan Pearsoff. It’s a pro-segregationist comic book comissioned and distributed by George Wallace during his campaign for governor of Alabama. Note the complete lack of any person of color in the comic whatsoever.

The words “black” and “white” don’t even really appear (at least not in reference to people.) The NAACP reference is the closest we get.
