Over at Stripper’s Guide, Allan Holtz compares the Sunday comics sections of yesteryear with those of today. As you might expect, the end results are not pretty. Lots of cramped, mangled comics crammed onto a page to meet today’s market needs versus beautiful full-page layouts of the 1940s. ‘Tis sad.

It is amazing that comics used to have half a page or a page. That’s so much more room than today’s comics. It’s easy to see how comic books developed out of compilations of those comic pages.
