Variety reports that Ice Cube is in talks to produce and star in Dimension’s film adaptation of Keith Giffen and Shannon Eric Denton’s graphic novel, 10.
The Boom! Studios comic involves 10 innocent people who become unwilling contestants in a game of death.
Gustin Nash and Jesse Cale are writing the adaptation. According to the trade paper, Ice Cube and Matt Alvarez of the Dimension-based CubeVision are negotiating to produce, with Circle of Confusion’s David Alpert and Rick Jacobs.

I actually purchased this on a whim when it showed up in my LCS on a slow week. I immediately thought it would make a good little movie. Something along the lines of Crank.

There was a movie I saw recently on cable called “Series 7 - Contenders” that has a very similar story to “10.”

“10″ has been sold out for awhile. BOOM! put it in the back of another of Giffen’s gems - TAG. You can get the tradepaperback here:

Ice Cube also starred in and produced the Barbershop movies. I really enjoyed the first one, the second was decent.
Clearly, Ice Cube has been in good movies (Boyz n the Hood, Friday, Barbershop, etc.) that were finacially successful as well. Hence, Cube starring in 10 will reel in a lot of moviegoers who would otherwise overlook it. For example, if not for Cube, I wouldn’t be commenting on this movie since I’ve never heard of the original comic book.

Correct. Ice-T was among the most popular of the first wave of gangsta rappers. Like Ice Cube, he’s mellowed a bit with age and now focuses on acting: Ice T now stars in Law & Order SVU.
