Although message boards are likely buzzing over announcements that Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch are re-teaming for a run on Fantastic Four, and that Alex Ross is returning to Marvel for a mysterious Captain America-related project, the most interesting news coming out of Wizard World Chicago’s second day may be that DC Comics is retooling its Johnny DC imprint.
The effort, spearheaded by Coordinating Editor Jann Jones, will include the cancellation of Teen Titans Go! and Justice League Unlimited, and the addition Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam, by Mike Kunkel, Tiny Titans, by Art Baltazar, and Super Friends, by Sholly Fisch and rotating artistic teams.
Also worth noting: During DC’s “New Worlds Order” panel, Dan DiDio revealed that that a New Frontier one-shot, by Darwyn Cooke, will be released to coincide with the Justice League: New Frontier DVD.

1. Millar and Hitch on F.F.: It’ll fall into the same depressing pattern of late issues as all of Hitch’s other projects. Trust me.
2. Alex Ross doing stuff for Marvel again: Whatever.
3. Actual kid-oriented titles for Johnny DC line: Best news of the entire con. About time DC took the kid market seriously.
4. Another Dr. Doom vs. Iron Man story: Think of all the decompression! Will it be six issues? Eight? Twelve?
5. The DC Panels and Cup O’ Joe: I don’t know what’s the bigger turn-off: The crowd swooning over Didio’s every pronouncement or Quesada’s detatched flippancy.
