Wizard World kicked off today with its first full day of programming after hosting preview night last night. While many of Marvel and DC’s attendees were stranded in New York because of the weather, both Joe Quesada and Dan Didio were on hand for a few new announcements and what looked like a lot of repeats from San Diego.
One of those new announcements was that animator Genndy Tartakovsky, the guy who brought us Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack and Star Wars: Clone Wars, is taking Luke Cage back to his roots with CAGE!, a four-issue mini-series that’ll feature “’70s-style butt-kicking action,” according to Troy Brownfield’s interview with Tartakovsky over at the mothership. Marvel will also announce the secret Mark Millar/Bryan Hitch project on Saturday.
DC, meanwhile, had some news about Saturday’s programming … apparently at the DC Nation panel, Dan Didio announced a panel for tomorrow on The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins. The movie is currently filming in Chicago, so I guess you never know who might show up.
And Wizard announced the winners of their fan awards, which you may remember being discussed around these parts a few weeks back. Unfortunately it looks like Oni lost in all the categories they were nominated for, which is disappointing. The complete list of winners, and more links to coverage, after the jump …
