In this Newsday profile of Helen Slater, who played Supergirl in the 1984 movie, the actress says the producers of Smallville are looking to cast her as the aunt of the Maid of Might.
Laura Vandervoort was cast last month as the CW series’ Supergirl.
Slater also reveals that she and Smallville comic writer Jake Black have written a Supergirl pitch for DC Comics.
“What was fun about the writing was [determining] how Supergirl would fit in today’s culture,” she tells the newspaper. “We’re keeping our fingers crossed.”
Slater recently appeared in episodes of Crossing Jordan, The New Adventures of Old Christine and Grey’s Anatomy. A singer, she’s also released two albums.
