Walt Disney Pictures has acquired the film rights to Pet Robots, the upcoming graphic novel created and written by Scott Christian Sava (The Dreamland Chronicles) and illustrated by Diego Jourdan.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Bender and JC Spink will produce the movie through their Benderspink label (Y: The Last Man, Ex Machina, Drafted).

Pet Robots revolves around four futuristic military robots that accidentally become “bonded” to four students, and follow the kids home.

Sava’s Blue Dream CGI animation studio has done work for Disney, Nickelodeon, Universal Pictures, Marvel and DC Comics. He’s branched into comics and children’s books with works such as The Dreamland Chronicles and Ed’s Terrestrials
