I like the fact that the pre-Iron Man Stark comes across as a real schill – it’s contemporary in tone, yet retains the nuances of the original stories, where Tony was just a cavalier guy with no qualms about selling hi-tech weapons to whoever had enough cash, and it was his accident and subsequent ‘reinvention’ as Iron Man that lead to his change of heart. Again, like Spider-Man, Iron Man is a case of someone accepting responsibility for their actions when bestowed with great power, albeit not until that point.
This film looks better with every peek released – I’ve said it a great many times, and I’ll keep saying it: this looks to be Marvel’s ‘Batman Begins’.
