TV Squad reports from the Heroes panel at Comic-Con that filmmaker — and occasional comics writer — Kevin Smith will write and direct the first episode of Origins, six-week spinoff that will air during the show’s mid-season hiatus.

Wow, Smith’s inclusion single-handedly made me want to skip the mini-series altogether. I hope he stays the hell away from the regular Heroes series.

Kevin Smith on this show is a good fit. I’m neither more or less excited than I already had been about it, becuase it’ sjust a lateral move that makes sense
