Blogging from the floor … or from the back of the Matt Wagner spotlight panel, anyway, next to Matt Brady who will have a panel report up on the main site soon.
The crowds today aren’t quite what they were last night, at least in the comic areas of the showroom. Walk down by the movie and TV booths, though, and it’s still a sea of bodies crammed together, searching for a 300 shield or an exclusive JLA three-pack from the Mattel booth (they already sold out; come back tomorrow). Sales seem to be going well for the people I talked to. Chris Pitzer at AdHouse said he brought some of the Paul Pope limited edition $100 books with him, and they all sold out last night.
This is the first panel I’ve attended, and really I just wanted to stake out a seat for the Darwyn Cooke panel, which I’ll be covering for the main site.
Here’s a random picture from the floor …
Registration line …
Hasbro is all about the Transformers:
Disney brought pirates:
At the DC booth, a group of fans in JLA costumes posed for pictures … either that, or the DC marketing interns need to ask for a raise:
Saw several creators, including Stan Sakai:
Chuck BB and Rick Spears gave away guitar picks and signed copies of Black Metal, their new book from Oni:
And the 5 crew is still selling copies of their exclusive comic at the Image table; Becky Cloonan said they haven’t sold out yet, but get yours before Saturday … pictured are Becky Cloonan, Vasilas Lolos and Fabio Moon …
C3PO and R2D2 at the Lego booth …
And what con is a con without Lou Ferrigno?

that’s Becky Cloonan on the left, Vasilis Lolos in the middle; I’m sorry but I don’t know the name of that guy on the right. Maybe you should mention who they are.
