• Laying down the Law: AOL’s Comics Alliance reports that Top Shelf Productions is set to release Pat Mills and Kevin O’Neill’s Marshal Law in a deluxe omnibus edition.
The grim, futuristic superhero parody originally appeared at Marvel’s Epic Comics in 1987-88, with later stories released through Apocalypse Comics, Marvel, Dark Horse and 2000AD.
I imagine we’ll see the official confirmation in the next few days.
• IDW to publish tie-ins to Igor animated movie: IDW Publishing will publish a series of miniseries tied to Exodus Film Group’s CG-animated movie, Igor, a comedy about a hunch-backed lab assistant who dreams of becoming a mad scientist. The film features an all-star cast, including Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, Jay Leno and Christian Slater.
• Filmmaker Ed Burns joins Virgin Comics imprint: Variety mentioned actor-filmmaker Ed Burns in passing in its article about Guy Ritchie’s Gamekeeper, but now Virgin Comics makes it official: The publisher will add Burns’ Dock Walloper to its Director’s Cut imprint. The Prohibition-era gangster series will be written by Burns and Jimmy Palmiotti.
