In my second con preview post for today, there’s more exclusives, more signing schedules and a tidbit from Brian Wood about some news that will be announced at the con…
Compass Zero
C.B. Cebulski talks about the exclusive comic he’ll have on hand in San Diego:
Printing in Japan as I write this, we’ll have copies of Compass Zero, our San Diego Comic Con Exclusive, on hand at booth 2729 all weekend. It features an eight page original story and all kinds of other goodies and info about the upcoming series. Me, Aki and Ryusuke will all be there to meet and greet, to sell and sign your comics. Ryusuke will have his other Japanese manga and dojinshi on sale as well. Please stop by to see us and say “hello”!
Brian Wood’s next project
Brian Wood says to watch out for the following coming out of SDCC:
- The “unannounced project” I’ve been mentioning for ages, an original graphic novel. It’s well underway - I’ve written about a hundred pages of script and the artist is about 75 pages into it. Total running length: 150 pages, give or take. This is NOT Dogs Day End, the already-announced Top Shelf project.
- A lot of Northlanders preview artwork, including the first cover and final, colored interior pages.
Slave Labor’s freebie list
SLG updates their list of goodies they’ll have at the con:
Eleanor and I have been using our indie cred to photocopy and staple up a bunch of ashcans. Show some appreciation of our efforts by picking up and enjoying one or more of the following:
A ten-page epilogue for The Clarence Principle — we’ll be giving these to people who have copies of the graphic novel signed by its creators, Fehed Said and Shari Chankhamma.
A ten-page Zombies Calling preview — the graphic novel by Faith Erin Hicks will be out in November!
A ten-page Igor: Fixed by Frankensteins preview — the artist, Eisner-nominated Chris Grine, will be at the booth signing these, along with Fixed by Frankenstein postcards.
A collection of Lenore pin-ups done by SLG artists Shari Chankhamma, Christopher, Gilrgrim, Dave Roman and Woodrow Phoenix. We’ll be giving these out to people who get books signed by Roman Dirge.
While the handmade photocopied ashcans are charming, we will also have some free promo stuff that’s a bit schmancier:Digest-sized first issues of Chumble Spuzz and Byron, the SLG comics serialized at Eyemelt.com. Both will be collected into trade paperbacks, Byron in August and Chumble Spuzz in January 2008.
Rex Libris bookmarks — because there is no excuse for these not to exist.
Space Office
John Green will have copies of his mini-comic, Space Office, at the con. (via)
