Variety reports that Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, Rendition) will direct Wolverine for 20th Century Fox.
Hugh Jackman, of course, will star in the X-Men spin-off, which is scripted by David Benioff (Troy). The movie is set for a 2009 release.

Giving this project to Gavin Hood is similar to letting Alphonso Cuaron(sp?) do a Harry Potter movie. Hopefully they’ll be pretty hands-off and let him do something cool- it’s not really a conventional comic book story by movie standards.
