Scientists sponsor cartoon contest

July 18th, 2007
Author Chris Mautner

The Union of Concerned Scientists, an organization of professional scientists concerned about the Bush Administration’s (as well as others) attempts to interfere in scientific research, sponsors a yearly editorial cartoon contest on the subject. This year’s judges included Garry Trudeau and Tom Toles of the Washington Post. Grand prize is a trip to D.C. and the chance to meet Toles. And cash.

The submission deadline has passed and the finalists are up, so you’ll have to wait until next year to submit your own cartoons. You can, however, vote for your favorite among the 12 that will be featured in the group’s 2008 calendar. Slowpoke creator Jen Sorensen is one of the finalists. Go cast your ballot.
