What happened to MacGuffin

Have you seen this store?

For the past two months, folks have wondered what happend to MacGuffin, the highly rated comic shop in Newport News, VA, that closed without warning. Now, Heidi MacDonald finally has the answer via an email from the store’s owner, Sam Hobart:

As you may already know, MacGuffin was forced to close our doors in early May as a result of a dispute with the property owner. I would like to apologize for the manner in which we closed, particularly the lack of any notice.

Unfortunately, the closing was not our decision and we were forced to deal with closing itself and the fallout on the fly. Having finally settled most of the issues surrounding the store’s closing, we are ready to move forward. Unfortunately, due to the circumstances under which we closed and the two month hiatus since, we will not be able to re-open.

We will, however, be having something of a going out of business sale this weekend. A friend of the family has generously allowed us to use their storefront this weekend July 14-15 (Sat and Sun) and everything will be at least 60% off and everything including store fixtures and office furniture will be for sale.

You can read more about the sale by heading over to Heidi’s site.
