And here’s five I enjoyed earlier.

Over at Millarworld, Mark Millar lists his five favorite recent comics and asks fellow creators to list theirs:

I always love that bit in Film Night’s round up of the season where actors and directors are asked what movies they’ve dug recently. In a similar spirit, here’s a thread for published pros only to chip in and tell us what’s impressed them most in the last 6-12 months.

My five:

1/ Walking Dead
2/ Ex Machina
3/ Punisher MAX
4/ Y The Last Man
5/ Invincible

Honourable mentions: Fell (which is brilliant), BKV’s Dr Strange, Mouse Guard and Lost Girls.

PS Something just struck me when I re-read my list. Only Punisher and Dr Strange could be described as superhero books and even then only loosely. What’s happening to me?? But these are genuinely the books I’m enjoying the most at the moment.

Brian Wood, Christos Gage and Andy Diggle are amongst the creators who’ve already replied, and Brian K. Vaughan can feel pretty happy with the results to date; Y The Last Man keeps popping up in those lists.

Invincible is not a superhero book?

    Invincible isn’t a superhero book?

It’s put out by a company neither Marvel nor DC, ergo, not a superhero book…

So Kirkman and Vaughn each have two in his top 5–that’s cool.

They are in my top 5 too.

Maybe Millar should note that Civil War isn’t showing up on anyone’s list.
