Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Andi Watson, and I’ll be blogging here over the next couple of weeks. Why? Because I’m a friendly kind of chap, but also because I have a book coming out this week, Clubbing, written by me, drawn by Josh Howard. It’s one of those Minx books and will be in stores from the 11th of July.

So, yes, I am promoting Clubbing and my other new book, Glister (due out in August from Image), but I’ll sweeten the pill as much as possible with some things-to-make-&-do. So break out the scissors (always have an adult on hand to help you), glue sticks, and sticky back plastic (okay, kidding about that) for my “Here’s one I made earlier” features. All you need to know about me for now can be gleaned from my blog where I’ll be posting sketches and background related to Clubbing:

my flickr for the eye candy:

and my website that’s in need of an overhaul:

Feel free to ask any sane questions in the comments and I’ll endeavor to be as candid as my almost-a-career dictates.

I dig your work. It’ll be interesting to see how your writing sensibilities play off of Josh’s art. Sure to be a fun team-up.

Have you collaborated with anyone else?

Andi, glad to hear that PARIS is getting a collected release! I read the first issue and decided to hold off for the big purchase. Do you expect similar collections for GLISTER and CLUBBING? (I know, of course, you’d like to sell the individual issues as well, but…)

  9. Andi Watson Says:

Chris, hope you’ll enjoy the full-on, deluxe collection of Paris. Clubbing is a graphic novel, so it’s already complete. Glister is 64 pages, digest sized, self-contained stories. It’s a bookshelf format with a spine, all the books will be complete in themselves so there’re no plans for collections, each volume is a graphic novella in itself. Hope that helps?

    Hi Andi,

I’m a great fan of you ever since I discovered “Geisha” and so far I’ve read most of your stuff (I guess nearly everything aside from maybe “Skeleton Key” - still trying to complete my single issue collection instead of buying the trades and that may take a while - and your “Buffy” stuff). Keep up the good work. :)

    I have two questions, though:

    1) ANY chance of ever seeing your tennis manga (15-Love?) in print some day (I bet you hate that question)?
    2) ANY chance of a team-up with Ted Naifeh.? I guess if you two would create a comic together that would be just magnificent. :D

Good luck with “Glister”. I know I will be on board. :)

Loved Clubbing - it’s fun. I started reading your books with Geisha years ago.

    Jed,
Thanks. re: 15-Love, it either went straight on the BBQ the moment Bill Jemas left the offices or it’s a plastic diamond in Marvel’s intellectual property crown.
Re: Ted. But which one of us would write and which one would draw?
If you’d like to see a 15-Love page, go here:

  14. Andi Watson Says:

Wow, my first reader. Glad you liked Clubbing, now lend it to a friend ;)

  15. Andi Watson Says:

Comment 14 is in response to Kat, btw.

  16. Jed Saxon Says:

    Thanks for replying. :)

    1) Too bad it wasn’t meant to happen. :(
Especially since that one page has really good artwork.

    2) How about sharing? A crossover of Kitsune and Courtney maybe and both characters drawn by their creators?
Or a 4-issue project with 2 issues drawn by you and written by Ted and the other two vice versa.

And meh. We didn’t get our comics today, so I have to wait until tomorrow for “Clubbing”. :(

Oh and is there maybe a chance that you will team-up with Simon Gane again? I liked “Paris” very much.

  17. Andi Watson Says:

Simon and I will be making something new in the (hopefully) near future.

  18. Chris Hassiotis Says:

Perfect, Andi, thanks for the response. I was confused about the formats of the new work. Looking forward to reading them soon!

  19. Louis_Cook_James Says:

I just bought these off ebay for $8.50 + s/h

    Little Star #1-4
    Love Fights #1-12

What were the print runs for the above two titles?

Do you follow how much your books are going for in the back issue market?

I’m buying bulk modern indy comics for 25-50 cents each. With the low print runs, I’m speculating they’ll jump in price as comics are taken more seriously by the intelligentsia.

Good luck in your new position.
